Union Pacific's Caliente Sub Blu-Ray

Las Vegas to Milford

Union Pacific's Caliente Subdivision etches a course across the arid deserts and deep canyons of the American Southwest. It is the centerpiece of UP's Los Angeles & Salt Lake Route running 240 miles between Las Vegas, Nevada and Milford, Utah.

This is a solitary route winding through a remote country that has changed little since the rails were laid in the early 1900's. Modern high-horsepower diesels pull twelve thousand foot stack trains past the bleached bones of old ghost towns nearly forgotten. Sheer canyon walls echo the deep bark of GE's and throb of EMD's lugging loads of coal, autos, iron ore, containers, trailers, and mixed freight.

Trains tunnel through mighty fortresses of rock, crawl over heavy grades of up to 2%, and sprint through vast deserts on a highway of steel. One of the scenic highlights is Rainbow Canyon near Caliente where the railroad passes beneath vibrant multi-colored cliffs.

Shot in October, 2020 in brilliant 4K from the air, as well as the ground, this is a fantastic look at UP's line through the desert.

Exploring WISCONSIN CENTRAL

Exploring WISCONSIN CENTRAL

23.00

In Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Wisconsin Central freights operated over a network of secondary routes and branch lines to serve the industries of this remote area.

During the summer of 2001, with the Canadian National takeover imminent, we ventured into the lush birch evergreen forests to capture daily operations over much of this trackage. While one could easily view many more trains on the main line, our goal was

to document pure sets of WC power operating on backwoods jobs during

Wisconsin Central's final summer. We invite you to join us as videographer Dan Hadley ventures out into the north woods in search of the essential Wisconsin Central.

Our coverage includes the Whitehall, Valley, Bradley, Ashland, White Pine, Marinette, L'Anse, Manistique and Newberry Subdivisions.

Wisconsin Central's eclectic collection of locomotives are evident in this show as many of their 4 axle units polish the rails of these secondary lines. Plenty of WC's SD45's are still shown working freight and ore trains. We also get a glimpse of operations on the Tomahawk Railway and the Lake Superior and Ishpeming.

Don't miss this program as it showcases what was one of the greatest railroads in America! Spectacular scenery and phenomenal trains can be found

The Milwaukee Road In The Midwest Vol 2

The Milwaukee Road In The Midwest Vol 2

21.00

The Milwaukee Road was a Class One railroad that operated until 1986. The Milwaukee had most of its presence in the Midwest with many branch lines and secondary routes. This classic railroad sported many different locomotives on its roster and played an important part in the Midwest economy. Photographer Fred Crissey captured several Midwestern Milwaukee Road lines in the 1970's, and in Volume 2 of The Milwaukee Road, C. Vision features Fred's films in Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota and North Dakota.

Enjoy the sites of trains on Milwaukee's main line from Montevideo, Minnesota to Hettinger, North Dakota along with the New England Line. Fred even captures Milwaukee Road's Bicentennial painted SD-40 dash two as it leads a train across northeastern South Dakota! Then we view several scenes of Milwaukee Road trains running via trackage rights on the ex-Northern Pacific's Skally Line from Superior, Wisconsin south toward the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Then several trains are seen around St. Paul and St. Croix Tower in Minnesota along with the branch to Stillwater, Minnesota and the main line along the Mississippi River! Also, trains encounter the tunnel at Tunnel City, Wisconsin. Finally, we view Milwaukee's Rapid City line from Mitchell to Murdo, South Dakota.

Great Milwaukee Road action is here for you to enjoy in "The Milwaukee Road, Volume 2."

Photographer Fred Crissey captured several Midwestern Milwaukee Road lines in the 1970's, and in Volume 1 of The Milwaukee Road, C. Vision features Fred's films in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.

You will be amazed when you see 4 SW-1 locomotives pulling a local freight between Rushford and Austin, Minnesota. Also, GP-20's are in charge of a train between Marquette and Mason City, Iowa. Then we capture trains along the Mississippi River from Savanna, Illinois and northward in Iowa. It is on this line that "F" units were charge of freights! Fred also followed the Milwaukee Road from Kansas City, Missouri to Ottumwa, Iowa just after the Soo Line purchased the Milwaukee in 1986. Finally, you will enjoy the action on two Wisconsin Branch Lines from 1978. An SD-9 works the Mineral Point to Janesville train and SD-10 number 555 is in charge of the Sparta to Viroqua train.

Through the Oregon Cascades Part 1: The Long Grade

Through the Oregon Cascades Part 1: The Long Grade

21.00

The Cascade Mountains of western Oregon are thick with tall timber growing along steep slopes broken by waterfalls and streams. This is the setting for a mountain railroad that climbs from deep within the Willamette Valley to nearly 5,000 feet above sea level at Cascade Summit.

Part 1: The Long Grade, begins at Eugene Yard and heads railroad south into the foothills of the Cascades. A forty mile 1.8% grade between Oakridge and Cascade Summit puts UP's newest locomotives to the test and keeps train crews on their toes. The line wraps around horse shoe curves, crosses trestles, and disappears through numerous rock sheds and tunnels before reaching the top of the pass.

In this highly anticipated follow up to "Union Pacific's Cascade Sub," we hike deeper into the most remote parts of the line and visit ground zero of the Frazier Slide which closed the railroad for three months in 2008. This is one of the most rugged portions of the I-5 Corridor which links the Pacific Northwest with California!

Shot in beautiful hi-definition between 2008 and 2015 in all seasons, this is the ultimate journey through the Oregon Cascades!

* 2hrs 10mins * colour * Dolby digital 5.0 surround sound * narration muting * chapter search * plus feature sections on old Santa Fe timetables and maps from the 1950s/60s * picture gallery - by Green Frog Productions

Our first proper railroad DVD is a completely re-edited version of an old classic - right back to the original source material!

"Better than VHS as day is to night"

The action on this DVD is a result of many railfan trips by noted rail photographer Emery Gulash who, from Chicago to the West, produced an incredible chronology of the Santa Fe over a 30 year span from 1952 to 1980!

As Emery says: "To me the Santa Fe was unique with its outstanding passenger trains, fast freights, great trackage and a great display of semaphore signals. It was the epitome of long distance railroads. So I spent much footage at many different locations enjoying the action and character of this great railroad.

For this film Emery assembled all of those pleasant encounters, FT freight units, PA passenger power and a variety of switchers and road trains. The Warbonnet paint scheme and the change to the blue scheme is also covered. There are a great number of incredible shots of the famous passenger fleet, interspersed with freights over a vast portion of the line. A collectors item
