Missouri Pacific Through Passenger Service In Color
by Greg StoutThe post war passenger service of the MoPac is examined across its far-reaching system as well as the road it absorbed to reach the Windy City, the Chicago & Eastern Illinois.
Not a typical place to spend your vacation but a great place to go railfanning. There are great views on the East and West slopes of Curtis Hill showing mainly double, triple and four locomotive headed trains with mixed manifests or intermodals climbing the grade to Curtis summit. The shrill cry of the rock swallows (which nest in the red clay cliffs) and the sound of the trains themselves is the only sounds to disturb the tranquil green countryside. But the trains just keep coming, up to 60 a day use the hill, often in fleets. Although the East slope was made doubletrack and its curves eased the west slope is only now being upgraded to doubletrack. So Curtis Hill, Oklahoma, is still a bottleneck on the BNSF's former Santa Fe transcontinental main line between Chicago and Los Angeles, but not for much longer.by Highball Productions 90 mins * colour * narrated
by Highball *120 mins * colour * hifi sound * narratedJoin us for a return visit to BNSF's Nebraska helper district, where heavy coal trains struggle up the 1.55% grade over Pine Ridge and through Crawford Hill's famous twin horseshoe curves. Lots of sound and fury as sets of SD70MAC's assault the grade aided by sets of SD60M helpers. You'll also see older power on manifests and intermodals, including former Santa Fe "warbonnets" and Cascade Green SD40-2's. Awesome action and heavy duty railroading through deep cuts, around horseshoe curves and up steep grades!

Santa Fe Odyssey
* 2hrs 10mins * colour * Dolby digital 5.0 surround sound * narration muting * chapter search * plus feature sections on old Santa Fe timetables and maps from the 1950s/60s * picture gallery - by Green Frog ProductionsOur first proper railroad DVD is a completely re-edited version of an old classic - right back to the original source material!"Better than VHS as day is to night"The action on this DVD is a result of many railfan trips by noted rail photographer Emery Gulash who, from Chicago to the West, produced an incredible chronology of the Santa Fe over a 30 year span from 1952 to 1980!As Emery says: "To me the Santa Fe was unique with its outstanding passenger trains, fast freights, great trackage and a great display of semaphore signals. It was the epitome of long distance railroads. So I spent much footage at many different locations enjoying the action and character of this great railroad. For this film Emery assembled all of those pleasant encounters, FT freight units, PA passenger power and a variety of switchers and road trains. The Warbonnet paint scheme and the change to the blue scheme is also covered. There are a great number of incredible shots of the famous passenger fleet, interspersed with freights over a vast portion of the line. A collectors item
