Considered the all-time master of railroad art, Howard Fogg painted
the power and majesty of the steel wheel on the steel rail. After rail
fans discovered Fogg’s artistry, he spent the next 50 years as
a freelance artist reinventing the steam age. InHoward Fogg's Trains
his paintings live on commemorating the great age of railroading.

Richard Allison's Passenger Trains 2011
Chartered in 1849, the Milwaukee Road eventually extended
its tracks across the northern tier of the United States to the Pacific
Ocean. Noted for its innovative electric motive power and passenger
service, the line’s successes were overshadowed by weak management
and strong competition. By spring 1982, all Milwaukee lines from the
West Coast to Minnesota had been abandoned, and in 1986 remaining Midwest
lines were absorbed into the Soo Line. Today CP Rail operates what remains.

first trains rolled the next year, and the line reached Santa Fe, New
Mexico, in 1880. By 1929, at its peak, the Santa Fe had over 13,000
miles of track. Santa Fe Railway captures images of steam and diesel
from across this vast system, so famous it was memorialized in a song

Great Railroad Photography 2010
Brought
to you by the editors of Railfan & Railroad Magazine, Great Railroad
Photography 2010 features the exciting work of eight photographers spanning
the range of style and expression. Howard Ande explores the lure of railroad
photography in his "Trackside Observances." Steve Crise explores
the wonderful possibilities at the Nevada Northern in "Same Time
Next Year." Karl Zimmerman takes us back to the early 1970s and the
waning years of western electrification as he tracked "The Charismatic
Motors of the Milwaukee Road." Keith Burgess explores "Railroading's
Dark Side" and discovers the dramatic world or railroading after
sundown. While the Santa Fe rolled into history more than 14 years ago,
Elrond Lawrence continues "Searching for Chico" and finding
strong reminders throughout California. Returning to his roots, Kevin
Scanlon is fascinated by "The Outline of Metal Against the Sky"
in and around Pittsburgh. Drawing comparisons to Japan's high-speed network,
Scott Lothes explains why the Northeast Corridor is where "The Past
Meets the Future." We take a fond look back at a heavy Appalachian
coal-hauler as Ron Flanary offers tribute to the old Clinchfield Railroad,
"The Quick Service Route."

The Blue Mountains...Union
Pacific's La Grande and Huntington Subdivisions by 7idea Productions
7idea
Productions traveled to Oregon's Blue Mountains in January and April, 2010
to capture today's Union Pacific operations over this spectacular route.
For more than a century, the Blue Mountains of Oregon have echoed with the
sounds of hard-working trains laboring up and down steep grades and squealing
through numerous curves. Even with today's powerful, high-tech locomotives,
railroaders still face a daunting challenge of running long and heavy trains
through a range of mountains with three different summits. This DVD takes
you on a 204 mile journey through "The Blues" starting at the Hinkle
hump yard and heading toward the Idaho border just east of Huntington. Heavy
trains and heavy grades means BIG POWER! Thrill to the sound of 16,000 ton
soda ash trains tackling 2% grades with mid and rear DPUs! Watch long stack
trains race by at nearly 70 miles per hour! Enjoy winter scenes around Meacham
and Kamela where trains seem to appear right out of the ground as they crest
the summit and immediately plunge down the other side. The magnificent scenery
of northeast Oregon's Blue Mountains coupled with a good mix of long, high-tonnage
trains makes this an amazing program to see and hear!

Stevens Pass...BNSF
Railway's Scenic Subdivision by 7idea
Productions
Stevens
Pass stands at an elevation of 4,061 feet above sea-level in the heart of
the Pacific Northwest's Cascade Mountains. Large granite outcroppings tower
above the densely forested landscape creating a cool, wet rainforest on
the west and semi-arid country on the east. Weaving through this seemingly
impassible barrier is a transcontinental railroad connecting the heartland
of America with the Pacific Northwest and the Orient.
BNSF Railway utilizes a historic route carved by John F. Stevens over 100
years ago. A continuous parade of long and heavy trains roll back and fourth
over the beautiful terrain on what is fittingly named the Scenic Subdivision.
7idea Productions traveled to the State of Washington in May of 2010 to
document current operations over this former route of the Great Northern
between Everett and Wenatchee. Witness long stack trains crossing beautiful
mountain streams, heavy grain trains thundering up 2.2% grades with mid
and rear-end DPU's plus Amtrak's Empire Builder on its daily run between
Chicago and Seattle. The highlight of the line is the famous 7.8 mile Cascade
Tunnel. the longest tunnel in the United States. See how smoke and fumes
are flushed out of the tunnel in between trains. Plus recount the 1910 Wellington
avalanche which swept two trains off the mountain.
No one ever said mountain railroading was easy and you'll see why in STEVENS
PASS...BNSF Railway's Scenic Sub!

BC RAIL by Highball Productions
BC's
auto tag says "beautiful British Columbia". Its trains are led by
a fleet of GE C40-8 CMs. It runs through spectacular and varied scenery 26000
revenue car loads on a system that can be divided into two sections. In this
DVD we concentrate on the Vancouver to Prince George mainline. We travelled
the 1800 miles to North Vancouver in August 1997 to fulfil a long time personal
ambition. We got a quick look at a rebuilt RS18 switching the yard, a brief
look at the Royal Hudson along Howe Sound, then concentrated on the freights.
The big GE C40-8CM cowls are very much in evidence and look handsome. The
scenery, especially north of Lillooet in the Fraser River Valley, is just
magnificent and we got some great shots of trains clinging to the canyon walls,
to river banks and lake shores. We got into most of the famous locations,
Britannia, Squamish, Cheakamus, Green River, Tisdall, Birken, Darcy, Seton
Lake, Lilloet, Polley, Fountain, Gibbs, Glenfrazer, Pavillion, Moran, Kelly
Lake and lots more.
A very interesting railroad in magnificent scenery. You'll like it as much
as we did
