WindyCity Rails Volume 4
by CVision Productions

"BNSF's Triple Track"
C. Vision's tour of railroads in and around the Chicagoland area continues in Windy City Rails, Volume 4.
In this program, videographer Marshall Beecher takes his cameras to several locations along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe's Triple Track Main from Chicago to Aurora. This ex-Chicago Burlington and Quincy main line does double duty as it hosts trains traversing to and from the Twin Cities on the Aurora Sub and Galesburg on the Mendota Sub. Numerous high priority intermodal, coal and general freight trains share these rails with Amtrak and Metra. Run-through trains from the Canadian National and Union Pacific also operate on the Triple Track. At the east end near Union Avenue, witness several of Union Pacific's 'Z' trains which cross the Triple Track, and see U.P. movements with several of their Heritage locomotives! All this movement makes the Triple Track one of the busiest main lines in the Chicago area.
Just about every kind of locomotive that the BNSF rostered in 2007 can be seen in this program! Add in all that variety along with over 150 trains featured in this show and you have one of the best BNSF programs anywhere!!! DVD Narration on/off feature.

Newcastle
by CVision Productions

C. Vision Productions invites you to our favorite railroad location, Newcastle, Wyoming. This old coal mining town sits on the east central edge of Wyoming and borders the western slopes of the beautiful Black Hills. It is here that the ex-CB&Q main line from Alliance, Nebraska to Billings, Montana weaves its way through Newcastle. Many scenic spots along this line include long sweeping curves and an original depot that still looks as good today as it did in the steam era.
This line is BNSF's Black Hills Subdivision. It handles numerous coal trains on a daily basis. In this production, C. Vision captures images from 1990 thru 1994 in the Burlington Northern years. SD-40 dash 2's, C-30 dash 7's and SD-60M's take charge of coal trains in the BN era. There are also several LMX B-39 dash 8's and B.N. B-30 dash 7A's in charge of general freights. These historic trains are combined with SD-70 MAC's, SD-70 ACe's, Dash 9-44AC's and ES-44AC's that were captured in 2006 and 2007 in the BNSF years.
Don't miss this show as it captures two different time frames and documents the progression of the BNSF in "Newcastle"!

Mullan Pass
The Monsters and More!

It’s one of the roughest, toughest mountain passes, where heavy tonnage trains battle 2.2 percent grades and up to three sets of helpers are needed for the haul. It’s a line of repeated horseshoe curves, with two long trestles, and a 3,896-foot long tunnel that crosses the Continental Divide. It’s located in the Big Sky country of Montana, where endless vistas of mountains and cloud-filled skies create a scenic backdrop for trains of 100-plus cars. It’s a place where two railroads juggle nonstop traffic over 29 miles of partially single-tracked mountain rails. Welcome to Mullan Pass!
Burlington Northern and Montana Rail Link shared the line when Video Rails captured the excitement on this legendary Pass in 1990. Starting at Helena Junction, we see BN and MRL trains depart for the steep climb to the summit. Every westbound train needs helpers and MRL’s heaviest power is assigned to its helper pool. SD40-2s and SD45s make up the bulk of the power seen here. 15,000-ton coal trains with 45,000 HP grind their way up the 2.2 percent grade, past Iron Ridge, Greenhorn Trestle, and Skyline Trestle to Mullan Tunnel, Blossburg Siding, and Elliston. Huge clouds of diesel exhaust billow out of the tunnel, making it easy to see why it’s called the “Black Fog of Blossburg.”
A special treat is a cab ride across the Pass in the lead helper engine of BN Train 195, a daily mixed freight. Whether you’re viewing the line from the crews’ perspective, from trackside, or through vast panorama views, railroading on Mullan Pass is an awesome experience you’ll want to enjoy again and again!
Produced by Video Rails 1998.

VIENNA’S TRAMS
By Highball Productions

I don't know if it is the bright sunny day, the beautiful city of vienna or the trams themselves that makes the views around Vienna's ring road so delightful. We see a lot of trams in action. Conventional trams, new, slinky trams, historic trams and the interurban-like street railway. On the wide uncongested streets bendy trams are no problem and we get excellent views of all the trams.

Here we are highlighting the first four DVDs from Sunday River Productions. They will gradually bring more programmes on to DVD and we will be highlighting others on our next newsletter. We are stocking ALL DVDs that are available but here are four great programmes to start with!

Gears in the Woods
by Sunday River Productions

Every kind of steam locomotive ever conceived to haul logs: Shays, Heislers , Climaxes, Articulated rod and Rigid frame Engines. You'll see the Feather River Shays high on S-curved trestles, getting a run at a 5.5% grade with 25 degree curves, and the fireworks pin-wheel of Climaxes tackling 6% grades on the Hillcrest. Heislers dance around the log dump like daddy long legs spiders. Climb in to the cab as Rayonier Mallet #8 heads for tall timber and returns with logs of Bunyan size. Two versions of the McLeod operation: first, a double-headed fan trip with an SP daylight consist and - in the 10 foot drifts of February - a sparkling vignette in brilliant sunshine with Mt Shasta towering behind.

Gorre and Daphetid
by Sunday River Productions

Gorre and Daphetid (Gory and Defeated) is the most famous model railroad built in this century. Two weeks after the death of it designer and builder, John Allen, it was destroyed by fire. All recordings were believed to have been destroyed.
Thanks to recent discovery of the films, this tape, remastered, offers you the ultimate of model railroading: a vast network of standard, narrow gauge and mixed gauge- even a trolley line. More than 100 bridges, no two alike, some soaring 5 feet above the floor, others crawling the labyrinthine canyons of the Akinback Mountain range, complete with working cable cars and water wheels. Includes the saga of the notorious Sore Feats Gang and their terrible but richly-deserved final demise.
We've used John's own slides to magnify his exquisite detail, from snow capped peaks to ocean car ferry, and bring to life to the thousands of miniature people and working railroad artifacts that surprised and delighted so many- even non- modelers.

The Super Chief - The Whole Story
by Sunday River Productions

The whole story of one of the world's most famous streamlined trains, from birth to burial. The whole trip from Dearborn Station, Chicago to Union Terminal, Los Angeles, with particular attention to the Great Bridges across the Mississippi and Missouri and the Great Passes: Raton, Glorieta and Cajon. Above Raton the Sangre de Cristo peaks sparkle in the breathtaking white of early winter against a diamond blue New Mexico sky. The Super Chief squeezes onto the sinuous single track hung in the slot canyon above Apache Creek as it squirms toward Glorieta Pass ( as high and more spectacular than Raton, but rarely photographed).
Feel the suction of air as the train roars past on the prairie. See inside the luxury consist, and glimpse the rest of the Santa Fe's streamlined fleet in action, including the San Francisco Chief, The Texas Chief, The Grand Canyon, The El Capitan, and Alco PAs leading The San Diegan along the Pacific surf.

Complete West Side Railroad
by Sunday River Productions

GLENN BEIER"S EXHAUSTIVE COVERAGE
This shows you the West Side Flume and Logging Company Railroad when it was really a working railroad. You see dozens of narrow gauge trains with empty log skeletons battling better than 5% grades to the high camps and then loaded with logs of garganuan size, the retainer set, the hand brakes tied down and the wheels smoking as the whole crew sweats to keep the train from getting away. The spindly trestles towering above the canyon walls, the dramatic, airborne ballet at the reloads, with ten ton logs poised for feather light placement, the explosive water dumps. Even the very last train ever to run on The West Side!
This is a work of devotion by a motion picture professional, Glenn Beier. It is not a collection of film scraps scrounged from the some cutting room floor. This is the ultimate source for information and dramatic, color photography of the West Side.

SPV 25 YEARS
SPV has now been going for 25 years and we have brought to you all the best programmes of American Railroading in that time. We started in the early 80s with videos as the American NTSC system wouldn’t play outside of North America. Initially we were not sure if there would be a market outside of the U.S. for the amazing power and might of the American scene. Over the last 25 years we have shown this subject off and have grown to supply other products including our own published North American Railroad Atlases compiled and drawn by Mike Walker. These have become the industry standard with many railroads now using them and have now started to cover Canada and have completed Western Canada with three more areas to cover.
We are also now the distributors of books from all the best American publishers and supply other items such as magazines, t-shirts, sweatshirts, seasonal cards and calendars.
We couldn’t bring these all to you without your support and we hope to continue to do so for many more years to come.
