Norfolk Southern's Chicago Line Vol.1

Norfolk Southern's Chicago Line Vol.1

21.00

No other mainline into Chicago from the east boasts as much rail traffic or variety as that of Norfolk Southern's Chicago Line. This high-density double track mainline sees a great deal of moves everyday, from unit oil and ethanol moves to hot intermodals to general freights and everything in between. Additional moves from Amtrak's Michigan and Eastern Services bring a good deal of passenger flavor to this corridor and we'll see them too.

Pooled power is plentiful, and you'll see examples of this from roads like Union Pacific, Canadian National, Ferromex and others. Haulage moves from Canadian Pacific and CSX also make appearances on their mains. Norfolk Southern's Heritage Power also finds its way into the production, and we'll see several of them on our journey, including the Pennsylvania, Lehigh Valley, Reading, Norfolk Southern, Central New Jersey and others.

Shot in all seasons of the year, traffic will be seen in all kinds of conditions, from warm summer days to the cold, blowing winter snow squalls typical for this region of the Midwest. Endangered signals dating back to predecessors Pennsylvania and New York Central also form great backdrops for trains, at a time when NS is just starting to renew a lot of the lineside signal hardware on this western end of the system.

From urban railroading to gritty steel mill scenes to rural Indiana country sides, these places all combine to typify what this busy line is all about. Come witness the action as Volume 1 commences on Norfolk Southern's Chicago Line, Chicago to Elkhart, by By C. Vision Productions.

CALUMET RAILS Volume 2

CALUMET RAILS Volume 2

21.00

The Calumet Region is the name given to the geographic areas drained by the Grand Calumet River and the Little Calumet River of northwestern Illinois and Indiana. In this region, many Chicago-destined rail lines that come from the east make a turn along with the southern edge of Lake Michigan. Several north-south lines radiating from the city cross these lines, making for a good deal of rail intersections within a very compact area. Add in all the heavy industry along the lakeshore and one can see why to this day there's such a proliferation of rail traffic in this geographical region. In volume two of our two part series we will examine rail operations of the region, within the state of Indiana. Locations include Indiana Harbor, Calumet Tower, Grasselli and Gibson. Canadian National Operations on the east end of their Matteson Subdivison are also featured at spots like Ivanhoe and Griffith and we'll close the show with a look at some moves west of Gary in the vicinity of Tolleston. Colorful scenes of railroading on this fascinating side of Chicago conclude in Calumet Rails, Volume Two from C. Vision Productions.

Canada's FRASER CANYON

Canada's FRASER CANYON

21.00

Travel with 7idea Productions to beautiful British Columbia, Canada where both Canadian Pacific and Canadian National traverse the rugged Fraser Canyon. Cutting a deep swath through the Cascade Range, this is an important link in the trans-Canada rail network connecting Vancouver with Montreal.

This program follows each line's course along opposite banks of the Fraser River between Hope and the confluence with the Thompson River at Lytton. These competing railways operate jointly in the canyon. Eastbounds use Canadian Pacific's Cascade and Thompson Subdivisions, while westbounds travel over Canadian National's Ashcroft and Yale Subs.

One of the many highlights of the canyon are the Cisco Bridges where both railways cross the river with the CN flying over the CP. Our summer and winter visits reveal the grand seasonal contrast of the canyon's appearance. Add to that a great variety of trains from hot shot intermodals, to coal, grain, potash, mixed merchandise, and the Rocky Mountaineer and you will know why railfans the world over love visiting Canada's Fraser Canyon! This program was shot between July 2016 and January 2017.
