Visit the magnificent two foot gauge private railway at Sandstone Estates in South Africa. See NGG13 and NGG16 Beyer-Garratts in action, double headed and solo in superb pre dawn to post sunset light, magnificent action. Catch the only two Lawley 4-4-0's in the world in action, then a rare German ‘Feldbahn’ 0-8-0T and an NG17 2-8-2. Cool fall weather makes for great steam effects. Includes action fom the train and in the cab. Finally, visit the Apple Valley with a Lawley and an NG17.

Paton's Country Railway operates the second oldest narrow gauge Beyer-Garratt locomotive in service in the world, 2-6-0 0-6-2 #55. Built in 1920, the locomotive worked most of it's life in the area. We'll see the engine being prepared for the days work, see the entire route from the train and see runby's on the way from Ixopo to Carisbrook, in Kwa-Zulu Natal Province, South Africa. The rain starts on the return journey, and we ride the little engine as she struggles up the grade, slipping constantly and leaking steam. Hear the thunderous exhaust as she fights to keep moving.

Fantastic big steam action at Friends of the Rail, with a 15F, 19D and a 24 in action. Then we visit Sistonka Stimela, with a 19D and a massive GMAM Beyer-Garratt. Finally, we visit Reefsteamers and see a 25NC, a 15F and a 12AR in action. Superb pre dawn to post sunset light and engines being worked hard. Hear the exhaust! Crisp fall weather makes for great steam effects.

Over 300 trains and 1,000,000 people use Howrah Station, across the Hoogly River from Calcutta, every day! 5' 6" gauge trains, with people hanging from the doors, EMU's and both diesel and electric hauled passenger trains, from locals to Rajdhani Expresses. The trains are colorful and full of character, the diesel locomotives are Indian built Alco models in a variety of types and colors. Howrah, with swarms of people everywhere, is India's largest station. Ancient trams ply the crowded streets of amazing Calcutta, India's largest city. Mixed up with street vendors, rickshaws, insane taxis, speeding mini-busses, nerveless pedestrians and the odd sheep and goat, the battered trams continue much as they have for more than one hundred and twenty five years, clanging and clanking through the teeming streets of of this incredible city. You'll see rainbow colored trams, porters with incredible loads on their heads, street vendors, inquisitive kids and the crowded, bustling streets of old Calcutta. The declining sugar cane railways of Java, Indonesia, still host a wide variety of elderly, exotic colorful steam engines in both the cane fields and the mills, and also have a variety of diesel "critturs". Steam from O&K, including unique inside frame geared Luttermoller's, Jung, Ducroo & Brauns, BMAG, the last fireless loco's in Java and others. The little engines are worked hard, often brutally so, and some of the exhast noise is awsome!. Water Buffalo are used in the cane fields to haul cane wagons to the "main line". Plus you'll ride on the engines, be chased by a train, and see some local life, including lots of curious kids!

A look at two of Britain's Heritage Railways, the North Yorkshire Moors and the Great Central, both on Gala Weekends and with a total of 13 engines in steam. The world's newest main line steam engine, the 2008 built A1 Pacific "Tornado" is running on the GC, as is the 2008 restored Britannia Pacific "Oliver Cromwell".
